My Two Dolls - Backs

Two prints turned into 3-D soft sculpture dolls. The designs are based on historical prints from 2 different cultures: on the left Maori, on the right Japanese.
The Maori prints were done by European explorers in the early-to-mid 1830's as a means of documenting their findings.
The Japanese prints were mainly from the ukiyo-e style of woodblock prints from the 18th century.
