Long time no art...

Sat Aug 1, 2009, 8:51 AM
I've been so busy with work the past few months that I haven't taken time out to make art. This...is bad. I discovered that it makes me kinda sick in a way. Bad stuff. So, I've started working on my shrinky-dink jewelry when I have time and it's given me a great outlet and I'm pleased with the results. My latest batch is now finished and uploaded here and I'm taking them down to the tattoo studio today to put in the sale case.
I started a new job officially this week. I'm now a school technology coordinator at an elementary school in the city just north of us. I'm very excited about this and it will give me more time to create and work on art. The downside is I don't get to see my husband much through the week as our schedules are opposite each other. Things will work out somehow though.

Glad to see you've gotten back to the creative stuff. I find that when I neglect it, I start feeling like :pooptoast: too. Congrats also on getting that job. Sounds like it might be more tolerable than mine.

Retail=fail. I hope you find a new job that doesn't suck the soul out of you.

Ah, so you've worked retail before? I've only been in it for a few weeks, maybe 2 months. I've seen & heard more than enough already to know how things really work.

By the end of the first month, I took a vow to not shop at Sears or at retail stores in general. Realistically it won't always be possible as sometimes we don't have a choice (i.e., new clothes--we can't always wear old rags), but if I need an item & can find it outside the mainstream retail system, I'll obtain it that way. (Watch me become a hardcore scavenger now)
